Shul of Downtown

Miami Beach, Florida

Category: Renders

Project Summary

Shul of Downtown transforms a curved urban corner into a multi-use synagogue building woven into the fabric of the city. The composition is arranged over active ground-floor storefronts, with a stone-clad volume above shaped to follow the sweep of the street and anchored by a monumental stained-glass window depicting a Star of David and menorah at its threshold. Punched windows and vertical glass slivers, animated with children's artwork, mark the classroom and community levels above, bringing color and life to the façade. A rooftop terrace crowns the building, combining a green pergola with a children's play area that opens views across the downtown skyline. At street level, glass storefronts, a colorful mosaic entrance, and a shaded arcade invite the surrounding neighborhood in, blending commerce, community, and worship along the sidewalk. Together, these elements establish a civic anchor that brings Jewish life and daily urban activity into a single, layered building.
