Bal Bay Home
Project Summary
Light, horizontal, and the slow movement of water have intricately shaped his waterfront residences. Consequently, the architecture unfolds in a series of almost relaxed gestures: wide roof planes, deep overhangs, and sweeping openings that frame breathtaking views stretching far out to sea. The interplay of light filtering through glass or wooden screens creates a balanced atmosphere, while open terraces
and covered walkways seamlessly dissolve the boundaries between living spaces and the garden.
Natural materials further ground the home in its environment. Warm wood ceilings and soffits soften the strong geometry of the structure, while stone and cement introduce texture and heft. As the day progresses, ripples in the water and reflections on the glass add a dynamic play of light and shadow, enhancing the sense of tranquility. This is not a house that imposes itself on its surroundings; rather, it opens up to harmonize with the setting, inviting residents to slow down, breathe, and live with intent.
