In 2004 the historic Copley Plaza Hotel(1940) and adjacent Sherwood Aparments(1939) were renovated to their original grandeur. Both structures played a crucial role in the history of Miami Beach; the buildings housed US Armed Forces during WWII. The Copley Plaza Hotel, Circa 39, was designed to appeal to contemporary Miami Beach hotel visitors. The exterior courtyard spaces were designed to flow with the interior public spaces to allow the visitors to experience the original design intent.
